Terms of Service

Effective September 19, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Fanfare Games ("Fanfare", "we", "us") for using fanfare.games and LegacyBall (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

The short version

• LegacyBall is a game played for fun. There is no gambling and there are no cash prizes.
• Be decent to the people in your leagues.
• The game is in testing. Things will change, and sometimes break.
• The historical statistics come from public records and are provided as they are.

Who can play

You must be at least 18 years old. You need an account to play, and while LegacyBall is invite-only, an administrator has to approve it. Give us accurate information, keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. One person per account; one account per person unless we agree otherwise.

No gambling, no prizes

LegacyBall is a game of skill and luck played for bragging rights. The Service does not offer wagering, entry fees that fund prizes, or cash or cash-equivalent prizes, and you may not use it to run them. Any arrangement you make with your leaguemates outside the Service is yours alone; we have no part in it and no responsibility for it.

Alpha and beta testing

While the Service is in alpha or beta it is offered for testing. Features may change or be removed, leagues and data may be reset, and the Service may be unavailable without notice. We may record how you use the app during testing, as described in the Privacy Policy. Feedback you give us is welcome, and you agree we can use it freely, without owing you anything for it.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you create on the Service: league and team names, chat messages, profile images, and the like. You give us permission to store, display, and transmit that content as needed to run the Service, for example showing your team name to your league. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except where it has become part of a shared league record.

You are responsible for what you post. Do not post anything that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or that infringes someone else's rights, and do not impersonate anyone.

Rules of conduct

Do not:

• cheat, collude to rig a league, or exploit a bug instead of reporting it;
• create accounts in bulk, or use bots or scripts to play or to collect data from the Service;
• try to get into accounts, leagues, or systems that aren't yours;
• interfere with the Service or place an unreasonable load on it;
• copy, resell, or redistribute the Service or its data, except for your own personal, non-commercial use.

Commissioners run their own leagues and make their own calls inside them. We are not a referee for league disputes, though we may step in where these terms are broken.

Our content, and the baseball data

The Service, including its design, software, text, and the LegacyBall and Fanfare Games names and logos, belongs to Fanfare Games and is protected by law. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use it to play.

The historical statistics in the game come from Retrosheet. The information used here was obtained free of charge from and is copyrighted by Retrosheet. Interested parties may contact Retrosheet at 20 Sunset Rd., Newark, DE 19711. Current-season data is drawn from public league statistics. We work to keep the data accurate and reconcile it against official records, but the historical record has gaps and errors, and we provide it as it is.

Player names and statistics appear as historical fact. Fanfare Games and LegacyBall are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Major League Baseball, the Major League Baseball Players Association, any team, or any player.

Game recaps labeled "Sportswriter" are written by an AI model from your league's results. They are entertainment, they can contain mistakes, and they are not statements of fact about any real person.

Ending accounts

You can stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts other players or the Service at risk, or has been inactive for a long period. Where it is reasonable we will warn you first. Sections that by their nature should survive the end of your account, such as ownership, disclaimers, and limits on liability, do survive.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't promise the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost.

Limit on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Fanfare Games and its owners and staff will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim about the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars. Some places do not allow these limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

If someone makes a claim because of you

If someone brings a claim against us because of content you posted or because you broke these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it.

Disputes and governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Before filing anything, please write to us; most problems can be fixed with an email. Any dispute we cannot resolve that way will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Wayne County, Michigan, and you and we agree to that venue.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Service grows. If a change matters, we will post the new version here, change the date at the top, and tell signed-in players in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using the Service after that, you accept the new terms.
