Privacy Policy
Effective September 19, 2026
Fanfare Games ("Fanfare", "we", "us") makes LegacyBall and runs fanfare.games. This policy explains what we collect when you visit the site or play, what we do with it, and the choices you have. It is written to be read. If something here is unclear, write to hello@fanfare.games and we'll answer.
The short version
- We collect what we need to run the game: your sign-in, your profile, and what you do in your leagues.
- We measure how the site is used, and during alpha and beta testing we record signed-in sessions so we can find the confusing parts. Visitors outside the United States are asked first.
- We don't sell your personal information, we don't show ads, and there is no gambling.
- You can ask for a copy of your data, or for your account to be deleted, at any time.
What we collect
Account information. When you create an account we receive your email address and, if you sign in with Google, the name on your Google account. Passwords are handled by Google Firebase Authentication; we never see or store them.
Your profile. The display name you choose, your avatar color and icon, and a profile image if you upload one.
What you do in the game. The leagues you create or join, your team names, draft picks, pick lists, lineups, trades, and results. League chat messages you send. Your notification settings. Whether your account has Premium.
Activity and device information. When you last used the app, the pages you view, and standard technical details your browser sends: IP address, browser and device type, screen size, language, and the page that referred you.
Session recordings (alpha and beta only). While LegacyBall is in testing, we record signed-in sessions with a tool called LiveSession: your clicks, scrolling, mouse movement, and the pages you see. We use these to find where the design gets in your way. Recordings are labeled with your display name and email so we can follow up with testers. What you type is never captured, and league chat and your email address are blanked out of the recording. Administrator accounts are not recorded, and the public pages are not recorded.
We do not knowingly collect information from children. See "Age" below.
How we use it
- To run the game: sign you in, show your leagues, resolve games, and keep standings.
- To show other players what a league needs them to see (see "What other players can see").
- To send you emails about your leagues: draft clocks, weekly results, trade offers, and account messages such as password resets. You can turn league emails off one type at a time under Profile, or with the unsubscribe link in any email.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it.
- To keep the service secure and to enforce our Terms of Service.
- To answer you when you write to us.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not build profiles of you for anyone else.
What other players can see
Managers in your leagues, and other signed-in members, can see your display name, avatar, team names, draft picks, lineups, results, trades, and your history in the leagues you share. League chat is visible to everyone in that league. Your email address is not shown to other players. Administrators can see account details, including email addresses, to run the service.
Cookies and similar technology
We use a small number of cookies and browser storage entries:
- Needed for the site to work: keeping you signed in (Google Firebase), remembering your cookie choice, and remembering that this browser is signed in so pages load correctly.
- Analytics: Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, sets cookies that let us count visits and see which pages are used.
- Session recording: LiveSession sets a cookie to tie a recording together.
If your browser appears to be outside the United States, nothing in the analytics or recording groups runs until you accept it in the banner, and you can change your mind at any time with the "Cookie settings" link in the page footer. We decide who to ask from your browser's time zone. Wherever you are, you can also block cookies in your browser; the game will still work.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the companies that help us run Fanfare, and only so they can do that job:
- Google (Firebase Authentication, Google Cloud hosting and database, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager): sign-in, hosting all game data, and site measurement.
- Resend: delivering the emails we send you. It receives your email address and the content of the email.
- LiveSession: session recording during alpha and beta, as described above.
- Anthropic: writing the optional "Sportswriter" game recaps. It receives game results, league and team names, and player statistics. It does not receive your email address or your chat messages. Recaps are written by AI.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our players or of Fanfare, or as part of a merger or sale of the business, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Where your information is kept and for how long
Our servers and database are in the United States. If you play from another country, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States.
We keep your account and game information for as long as your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account we remove your profile, email address, profile image, and notification settings, and we replace your name in league history with a placeholder so your leaguemates' records stay intact. Session recordings are deleted automatically at the end of the retention period on our LiveSession plan. Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months. Backups are overwritten on a rolling schedule.
Your choices and rights
- See or correct your information. Most of it is on your Profile page. For anything else, write to us.
- Delete your account. Write to hello@fanfare.games from the address on your account and we will delete it within 30 days.
- Email. Turn league emails off under Profile, or use the unsubscribe link.
- Analytics and recording. Use "Cookie settings" if you were shown the banner, or your browser's controls.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights: to get a copy of your information, to have it corrected or erased, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to complain to your local data protection authority. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on these legal bases: performing our agreement with you (running the game), our legitimate interests (keeping the service secure and improving it), and your consent (analytics cookies and session recording), which you can withdraw at any time. California residents have the right to know, delete, and correct, and the right not to be discriminated against for using those rights. To use any of these rights, write to hello@fanfare.games. We will not ask you to pay and we will not treat you differently for asking.
Age
LegacyBall is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
We use encrypted connections, managed sign-in, and restricted access to the database. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise that nothing will ever go wrong. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will post the new version here, change the date at the top, and tell signed-in players in the app or by email before it takes effect.
